I provide independent medico-legal opinion in cases involving facial injury, skin cancer, and complications of facial surgery, including periocular procedures such as blepharoplasty.

My work covers both clinical negligence and personal injury, with particular focus on cases where there is an interaction between clinical outcome and visible aesthetic impact.

I am instructed to provide clear, structured reports addressing the key medico-legal questions of breach of duty, causation, condition, and prognosis. In facial cases, this often includes detailed assessment of scarring, asymmetry, and functional impairment, alongside the underlying clinical issues. Where appropriate, I also comment on the likely long-term cosmetic outcome and its impact on the individual.

A significant proportion of my medico-legal work relates to skin cancer of the head and neck, including cases of delayed diagnosis or treatment. These cases require careful analysis of the clinical timeline, referral pathways, and decision-making, as well as consideration of whether earlier intervention would have altered the extent of surgery or overall outcome.

I also provide opinion on complications of eyelid surgery and facial cosmetic procedures, where the balance between aesthetic outcome and functional preservation is central. This includes assessment of issues such as lid malposition, contour irregularities, and visible scarring, together with the standard of care expected in these procedures.

In addition, I assess cases involving facial trauma and nerve injury, including injuries to the facial nerve and trigeminal nerve. These cases often require evaluation of both objective clinical findings and subjective symptoms, particularly where there is persistent sensory disturbance or functional deficit.

All reports are prepared in accordance with the requirements of CPR Part 35, with a clear understanding that my duty is to the court. My approach is to provide independent, evidence-based opinion, presented in a format that is accessible to legal professionals and suitable for use in litigation.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors, as well as for single joint expert appointments. Reports can be provided following full review of the medical records, and where required I am available for conference with counsel, joint statements, and court attendance.
