Brow lift recovery time
Brow lift procedure

Brow Lift

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a highly effective procedure designed to elevate the eyebrows and smooth out forehead wrinkles. Over time, factors such as aging, genetics, and repeated facial expressions can cause the eyebrows to droop and deep creases to form on the forehead. A brow lift addresses these concerns by repositioning the brows to a more youthful position and tightening the underlying  tissues, resulting in a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance.

At our practice, we believe in a personalised approach to ensure natural-looking results that complement your unique facial features. During your consultation, I will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your specific concerns, and evaluate the ideal technique for your brow lift procedure. We offer different approaches, including trichophytic, direct, limited incision, infra brow and temporal approaches - depending on your individual needs and goals.

Trichophytic Brow Lift

The traditional brow lift involves creating an incision either just at the hairline, allowing precise access to the underlying muscles and tissues. Through this incision, excess skin is removed, and the brows are repositioned to a more youthful and slightly elevated position. This method is particularly effective for females with more significant sagging and deep forehead wrinkles.

Direct Brow Lift

Utilising a mid-forehead wrinkle, excess skin and underlying tissue is tightened to enhance a youthful appearance by repositioning the eyebrows and removing excess lax skin. This technique will position the scar within the typical mid-forehead wrinkle that appears often in men. It is suitable for individuals with moderate brow sagging and fewer forehead wrinkles.

Minimal Incision Eyebrow Lift

The limited incision brow lift is an excellent option for patients with mild to moderate eyebrow sagging. This technique involves shorter incisions strategically placed within the eyebrows, allowing lifting and tighten the brows while minimising visible scarring. The limited incision approach offers a quicker recovery period and natural-looking results.

Infrabrow Brow Lift

A targeted decrease in the excessive tissue between the eyebrow and eyelid, sometimes performed as an alternative or an adjunct to upper eyelid blepharoplasty.

Temporal Brow Lift

Just targeting the outer aspect of the brow, this minimal incision approach also helps to reduce the appearance of sagging tissues in the upper eyelid, and can once again be performed as an alternative or an adjunct to upper eyelid blepharoplasty

Following your brow lift procedure, our dedicated team will provide you with comprehensive post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery.

It is common to experience some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort, but these effects will gradually subside. Most patients can return to their regular activities within a week or two, although individual recovery times may vary.

With proper care and adherence to the post-operative guidelines, you will begin to notice the remarkable transformation of your forehead and brow area. As the swelling decreases and your tissues heal, you will enjoy a more youthful and refreshed appearance, with smoother forehead skin and rejuvenated eyebrows.

As with any medical procedure, it is important to be aware of the possible complications associated with a brow lift.

While complications are rare, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of the potential risks involved. During your consultation I will discuss these risks with you in detail and address any concerns you may have.

Here are some of the potential complications associated with a brow lift:

  1. Infection: Although rare, there is a small risk of developing an infection following a brow lift. Our practice takes extensive measures to maintain a sterile environment and minimize the risk of infection. Antibiotics may be prescribed after the procedure to further reduce this risk.
  2. Scarring: Every surgical procedure involves some degree of scarring. With a brow lift, incisions are typically made within or along the hairline to minimize visible scarring. Our skilled surgeons take great care to ensure incisions are well-placed and as inconspicuous as possible. Over time, scars tend to fade and become less noticeable.
  3. Numbness or Altered Sensation: Temporary numbness or altered sensation in the forehead or scalp area may occur after a brow lift. This is typically a temporary condition that resolves on its own as the nerves heal. In rare cases, some individuals may experience prolonged or permanent changes in sensation.
  4. Haematoma: Although uncommon, a haematoma, which is a collection of blood under the skin, can occur following a brow lift. Our surgeons take precautions to minimize this risk during the procedure. If a hematoma does develop, it may require drainage to promote proper healing.
  5. Hair Loss: In rare cases, some patients may experience temporary or permanent hair loss around the incision sites. Our surgeons employ meticulous techniques to minimize the risk of hair loss, and they will discuss this potential risk with you during your consultation.
  6. Asymmetry or Unsatisfactory Results: While every effort is made to achieve symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing results, there is a possibility of slight asymmetry or unsatisfactory outcomes. Our surgeons are highly skilled and experienced, striving to deliver the best possible results. They will discuss realistic expectations and work closely with you to achieve your desired aesthetic goals.

It is important to remember that complications are rare, and the majority of patients experience successful outcomes with a brow lift procedure. Our practice prioritises patient safety, employing advanced techniques and adhering to strict protocols to minimize risks and ensure optimal results.

During your consultation, I will provide detailed information about the specific risks and complications that may apply to your unique circumstances. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have, address your concerns, and guide you through the decision-making process.
