How does Profhilo works? As a stabilized product Profhilo lasts in the skin for around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA. The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement.

The high strength hyaluronic acid is injected across strategic points where it will gradually disperse. Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water within the deeper layers of the skin. This provides structural support and hydration. 

Profhilo is a fairly new product that uses patented technologies engineered for skin remodelling. IBSA make it in Italy from hyaluronic acid, which is found in many Dermal Fillers.  However, rather than filling lines, Profhilo promotes collagen and elastin growth to reduce skin laxity.

Thanks to the unique characteristics of Profhilo, improving skin laxity is easily obtained in only two sessions, with a 1-month interval, and only five injection points on each side of the face. Profhilo is suitable for practically anyone, men and women, from 30 years old and with no upper age limit.

After treatment, Profhilo remains in the skin for around 28 days and slowly releases HA into the skin. This action stimulates the production of 4 different types of collagen and elastin.

The simulation results in significant tissue improvement reducing sagging tissue and signs of ageing, while the hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin. 

IBSA recommends 2 sessions with a 4 - 6 week interval by means of the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) Techniques to minimise the risks and maximise the product's flowability.

Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetic treatments. I recommend you avoid other injectable treatments 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the treatment.

You can have Botulinum Toxin treatment at the same time; otherwise, we recommend a gap of two weeks prior to or 2 weeks after a Profhilo treatment.

Microdermabrasion, chemical peel and IPL can be performed 2 weeks pre or post-treatment. For Fractional resurfacing, a 4 weeks gap between treatments is recommended.

Profhilo treatment is not recommended immediately following other routine medical procedures. For dental procedures, leave at least 2 weeks pre or post-treatment.

2. Bio-remodelling: Profhilo is unique because of its specific formulation, which involves a hybrid complex of low molecular weight and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. This combination is designed to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. The low molecular weight hyaluronic acid penetrates deeper into the skin, while the high molecular weight hyaluronic acid acts as a supportive scaffold, creating a bio-remodelling effect. This process encourages the production of new collagen and elastin fibres, leading to improved skin elasticity and firmness.

1. The most common side effects associated with HA injection are site reactions, including swelling, pain, redness, itching, bleeding, and bruising, which normally last less than one week
2. Displacement of the filler material is mainly a consequence of wrong technique or lack of experience of the physician and can lead to the early appearance of lumps, asymmetries and deformities
3. Hypersensitivity reactions to HA injections reported since the 1990s are now believed to have been related to protein contaminants that were present in the first-generation HA preparations. As a matter of fact, the introduction on the market of a hyaluronic raw material with a protein content that is six times lower than the raw material previously used has led to a reduction in the frequency of hypersensitivity reactions
4. Infections can result from the breach in skin surface integrity, and they can range from reactivation of herpes simplex infection to the formation of an abscess and cellulitis, which may be caused by the late-onset formation of a biofilm, which is a collection of bacteria surrounded by a protective and adhesive matrix. Bacteria present in biofilms use the implanted filler as a surface on which to attach and excrete their own matrix, which gives them the ability to survive, develop and resist antibiotic treatment. Long-lasting biofilms can eventually lead to tissue fibrosis
5. Foreign body granuloma is a chronic inflammatory reaction that entraps an alien element into the body, preventing its migration and/or elimination. Even small amounts of residual protein contaminants, after HA filler purification, potentially carry a risk for hypersensitivity reactions and formation of granulomas. The incidence of foreign body granuloma formation after the injection of HA fillers ranges from 0.02% to 0.4%
